The next Operation Clean Sweep event is scheduled for Saturday, October 15.
Diana Sanchez of South Texas Rural Health Services said they get together with the Chamber of Commerce and other groups like TX DOT and the Eagle Pass Public Works Department several times a year for the community-wide effort in which volunteers help the community by picking up trash.
Operation Clean Sweep usually brings out about 100 volunteers per event, said Sanchez.
On October 19, South Texas Rural Health Services will be assisting the Eagle Pass Housing Authority with their Red Ribbon Halloween Carnival at the Manuel Abascal Community Center in the Mundo Nuevo housing projects. From 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m., families can enjoy music, door prizes, food, and a children’s costume contest.
“The whole point is to get the kids to be drug free,” said Sanchez.
With the help of the Texas Department of State Health Services, along with the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas the fourth annual Deadwood Obstacle Challenge on October 26 in honor of Border Tri-national Health Month will be held. Everyone is invited to attend the event that will take place at KTTT Pecan Farm at the end of Rosita Valley Road.
