Mexican Subject Had Been Previously Removed

US Border Patrol agents assigned to the Carrizo Springs Station arrested a convicted sex offender who had been previously removed.

“Our agents work diligently to ensure criminals do not enter our country” said Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak. “This arrest demonstrates the hard work and commitment our agents display every day to protect our communities.”

On Oct. 3, Juan Fernando Yanez-Lopez, 30, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico, was apprehended by Carrizo Springs Border Patrol agents near Carrizo Springs. During processing, agents discovered that Yanez-Lopez was convicted of second-degree felony sexual assault with a child in Union County, Arkansas. Yanez-Lopez was sentenced to 96 months in prison and was removed April 22, 2010 back to Mexico.

Yanez-Lopez faces a charge of illegal re-entry after deportation - 8 USC § 1326 – which carries a possible sentence up to 20 years in prison.
