Tuesday, September 6 will mark the beginning of spirit week for Eagle Pass High School and CC Winn High School, all leading up to the game in which the two schools will play against each other : “Battle on the Border.”

At 7:30 on Tuesday, both schools with their perspective representatives will gather at the SAC Baseball Field for a friendly spirit competition. Head Coaches will hit a bell, which will officially begin “Battle on the Border” week, and a spirit competition in which representatives from each high school will be asked to show what makes their school spirited. The high school with the largest staff and student participation will be awarded 25 points in the Most Spirited School Competition. All schools are invited to watch.

At 7:30 on Wednesday, “Battle of the MINIS” will be hosted at the SAC Baseball Field, in which elementary, early childhood, and junior high will compete in a vehicle decorating contest and run-through sign competition. The school will craft their vehicle design based on the high school they feed into. No 18-wheelers, tractors, golf carts, monster trucks, or gooseneck or pull trailers allowed in decorating contest, only a truck or car. Signs must not exceed 8 x 8 feet. While the judges are tabulating their scores, a parade will take place. The Eagle and Maverick feeder schools with the highest combined scores from the vehicle and sign contest will win: 8 seats at the First Annual Unity Press Conference; respective dance team performance at half time at the JV Eagle vs Maverick game; respective cheerleader performance at JV Eagle vs Maverick game; 3 sixth grade boys (or oldest the school has to offer) will participate in the Varsity game coin toss and have reserved seating in the end zone; and earn 25 points for the Most Spirited School Competition.

First place in the Car/Truck Decoration Contest will be a picture on the school’s website banner and 20 points in the Most Spirited Competition; first place in run-through sign competition will be the use of the sign during the Varsity game and 20 points in the Most Spirited Competition; and second place in the sign competition will have their sign used during the JV game and 15 points in the Most Spirited Competition.

From 9 to 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, a meet and greet at the Fine Arts building Exhibit Room A with a red carpet and photo opportunity for guests will be conducted with a press conference to follow immediately.

Evening activities will include a freshman game at 6:00 p.m. and JV game at 8 p.m. Teams will run through second place run-through signs. The wining schools cheer and dance teams will be featured.

The week will finish off with pep rallies at both EPHS and CC Winn in the morning, and the much anticipated “Battle on the Border” game in the evening, where most spirited sixth grade winners will present for a coin toss and have reserved seating in the end zone.
