Maverick County Sheriff’s Department responded to two cases of public intoxication on Friday, August 26.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Deer Run Blvd. and White Tail Friday morning after a vehicle was found in the middle of the roadway impeding traffic. Upon arrival, deputies observed a male subject asleep behind the wheel, and several open containers of alcoholic beverages inside the vehicle. The subject, Gerardo Torres, displayed signs of intoxication and was found with unstable balance and slurred speech. Torres was taken into custody and transported to the Tom Bowles Detention Center for processing.
A second incident involving a drunk driver occurred near Rosita Valley, in which the driver crashed into a mail box and was later arrested.
