Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:30 p.m., Maverick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a family violence incident in Deer Run.

Upon arrival, deputies spoke with both the aggressor and the woman assaulted.

The woman stated that her husband, 38-year-old Felipe Peña, had punched her in the face and arm while they were arguing.

Peña was then arrested, said Chief Deputy Robert De Leon.

There was also an incident of drunk driving on Washington Street over the weekend.

“Deputies conducted a traffic stop in reference to a minor traffic violation,” said De Leon. “The driver had strong signs of intoxication including a strong odor of alcohol, blood shot eyes, and slurred speech.”

Deputies then arrested Juan Carlos Torres for DWI.
