The Eagle Pass Fire Department conducted rescue mission training using boats at the Maverick County Lake
These trainings use two kinds of boats, and Fire Chief Manuel Mello says it is important to both make sure the firefighters are proficient in rescue tactics, as well as that the boats are working properly. EPFD had previously put these boat trainings to use in cases where they had to rescue people occassionally on the Rio Grande, and more frequently in areas like Elm Creek and Las Quintas that often suffer from severe flooding.
