Maverick County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to reports of a man impending traffic, and possibly unconscious.
When deputies arrived, they found Aaron Garcia asleep in his car on a street in the Las Quintas subdivision, said Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Robert De Leon.
“A deputy made contact with the subject who had an alcoholic beverage on his person,” said De Leon. “He turned off the vehicle and they escorted him out of it, then arrested him for DWI.”
Deputies also found a small bag of a white powdery substance in Garcia’s vehicle, which when field tested came back as positive for cocaine, said De Leon.
Deputies also responded to a call from CBP about a stolen vehicle.
Two people crossing Port of Entry 1 in a 2004 Chrysler Sebring from Piedras Negras into Eagle Pass were detained after CBP officers realized the car was stolen.
De Leon said deputies were called to recover the vehicle.
“We went over there and two subjects were arrested, who were from Piedras Negras,” said De Leon who added they could not release the names because the case is still under investigation. “The subjects are saying that they bought the vehicle from a person in Piedras Negras, they were not aware that it was stolen,” said De Leon. “They were detained to see if their story was true, so we’re going to make contact with the owner of the vehicle before we release any names we want to make sure.”
