Increases in water prices will help fund a $50 million dollar water works capital improvement plan that will include replacement of 20 miles of cast-iron pipes as well as eight miles of under sized pipelines in Las Quintas and Jardines Verdes, painting and rehabilitation for elevated and ground storage water tanks across the city, expansion in both the Roberto Gonzalez UF Regional Water Plant and waste water treatment plant, purchase of a sludge dewatering belt press and construction of the building that will house it, water rights acquisition and water source diversification, and construction of a new ground storage water tank near SWTJC to support the development around the international trade center, the sports complex, and a number of medical buildings.
Natural gas price changes were a result of cost sales adjustments, and will apply to residential services, small commercial and industrial services, large commercial and industrial services, and public authority services within the city.
The rate increase varies depending on the type of account the customer may have, and include the average residential bill increasing by 1.4 percent, small commercial and industrial bills increasing by 2.6 percent, public authority bills increasing by 2.4 percent, and large commercial and industrial increasing by 2.8 percent.
These changes will affect 2,788 customers, comprised of 2,578 residential customers, 168 commercial customers, 3 large industrial customers and 39 public authority customers.
