13th annual 5K run held, bike race coming up July 16

As part of National Parks and Recreation Month, the Eagle Pass Parks and Recreation Department organized their thirteenth event in the annual Summer Sizzler 5K Run and Bike Race Series. 

The 5K Run held this past Saturday started at Shelby Park, went up Main Street and then onto Adams street. Runners then passed through the Fort Duncan area and under International Bridge II, then back towards Shelby Park for the finish.

The bike race will be held Saturday, July 16, and includes a 4 mile, 10 mile, 30 mile, and 50 mile trek towards El Indio. 

The races begin at Dessert Lanes Bowling Alley on El Indio Hwy. The competitors will then travel on El Indio Hwy until they reach the halfway point for their race. 

The top three contestants will receive medals, and the top three best overall times will be awarded cash prizes. First place will take home $400, second place wins $200, and third place will be awarded $100. 

The registration cost for the upcoming bike race is $15 per person.
