The Maverick County Courthouse was packed Friday afternoon, as a large audience awaited Texas State Representative Poncho Nevarez.

In honor of Independence Day for the United States of America, Nevárez, along with the Maverick County Bar Association, read the Declaration of Independence to commemorate the special day in the nation’s history.

“The reading of the Declaration of Independence is a longstanding tradition that I uphold with honor and pride,” said Nevárez. “As citizens of the United States it is important that we remember the significance of the celebration of the Fourth of July and the sacrifices made by those who serve our country every day.”
