DEL RIO, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, at the Del Rio Port of Entry, seized more than 200 pounds of alleged cocaine concealed in a commercial shipment.

“Our officers demonstrate the highest standard of vigilance by disrupting the flow of illicit narcotics into our country and keeping it off the streets of our community,” said Port Director Alberto D. Perez, Del Rio Port of Entry.

On June 28, CBP officers at the Del Rio Port of Entry inspected a 1998 Kenworth tractor-trailer, carrying a load of ceramic roof tiles, as it arrived in the United States from Mexico. During inspection, officers discovered 94 packages hidden within the flatbed trailer. CBP officers seized a total of 236 pounds of alleged cocaine, valued at $1,829,880.

CBP seized the narcotics along with the tiles and trailer. The ongoing investigation into the narcotics shipment is being conducted by Homeland Security Investigations special agents.

CBP’s Del Rio Port of Entry is part of the South Texas Campaign, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
