School district approves Early College Academy

At EPISD's regular board meeting on Tuesday June 14, the board unanimously approved a program that would grant students the opportunity to greatly advance their college education while still in high school. 

The EPISD Early College Academy, in conjunction with Southwest Texas Junior College, will provide students with the chance to earn 60 semester credit hours or an Associate of Arts degree while earning a high school diploma with an endorsement and a distinguished level of achievement.

The board expressed their excitement for the new program, which 29 students from EPHS and 19 from CC Winn have been excepted to, as well as their gratitude toward Director for Instructional Services David Camarillo and Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Samuel Mijares. 

"I know you put in a lot of hours, hard work, you were committed to the directive that was given by the board and superintendent, and I know that you've done an awesome job," said EPISD Board Vice President Hilda P Martinez. "And I know that the board agrees with me." 

" I've said it before and I'll say it again, we have a tremendous staff here," said Board Trustee Rudy Bowles. "To be able to go to college as juniors b belonging to this program is outstanding. You deserve the applause that you got."

In addition to the Early College Academy, EPISD will also have two magnet programs; EPISD Engineering Academy and EPISD Health Sciences Academy. The purpose of the two magnet programs is to provide advanced skills for competitive wages in high demand Engineering and Health Science careers.

En una reunión de la junta regular del EPISD el pasado martes 14 de junio, se aprobó por unanimidad un programa que otorgaría a los estudiantes la oportunidad de avanzar en gran medida su educación universitaria, mientras que esten todavía en la escuela secundaria.

La Academia  Colegio EPISD temprana, en conjunto con Southwest Texas Junior College, proporcionará a los estudiantes la oportunidad de ganar más de 60 horas  de crédito por semestre o un título de Asociado en Artes al mismo tiempo ganar un diploma de escuela secundaria con un respaldo y un nivel distinguido de logro.

La miembros de la mesa directiva expresaron su entusiasmo por el nuevo programa, 29 estudiantes de EPHS y 19 de la CC Winn  han sido excluidos, así como su gratitud hacia el  Director para Servicios de Instrucción David Camarillo y el Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Samuel Mijares.  

"Yo sé que  pone muchas horas de  trabajo , que se ha comprometido a la directiva, y sé que usted ha hecho un trabajo impresionante", dijo  vicepresidenta de la mesa del EPISD  Hilda P Martinez . "Y sé que la junta está de acuerdo conmigo."

"Lo he dicho antes y lo diré otra vez, tenemos un tremendo personal aquí," miembro de la mesa directiva  Rudy Bowles. "Para que sea confiable para ir a la universidad como jóvenes, este programa es excepcional. Se merece el aplauso 

Además de la Academia Universtaria , EPISD también tendrá dos programas especializados; EPISD Academia de Ingeniería y  EPISD Academia  de Ciencias de la Salud .  El propósito de los dos programas es proporcionar conocimientos avanzados de salarios competitivos en alta demanda y las carreras de ingeniería de la Ciencia de la Salud
