Eagle Pass

Authorities are working in order to curb a trend which is in itself alarming.  They have detected that a large number of minors under the legal drinking age of 21 are consuming alcohol. Albert Menchaca of Quad Counties stated that he has come across statistics which indicate rising percentages of minors consuming alcoholic beverages especially in residences outside the city limits and in ranches and homes in rural areas.  What is more concerting is the fact that these minors drive after consuming alcohol and can hurt themselves and/or others when under the influence. Eagle Pass PD has also become aware of situations where this behavior has been confirmed and they have been called in to put a stop to parties and celebrations where minors have been found to be in possession and/or under the influence of alcohol.  This is a social problem that needs to be addressed by parents and local citizens as well. Parents are asked to know the activities of their children and to know who they are associating with especially at night when they may be at parties such as these with their friends. Menchaca mentioned that his organization is working hand in hand with local authorities to keep tabs on such illicit activity in order to positively curb this trend.  They are analyzing local ordinances as to see what they can do to do so.
