For 4 years Mission: Border Hope has been assisting Low income Families and Disaster Relief Survivors.

This year Mission: Border Hope received a Grant from Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to set up 4 different programs to assist our community.

This Grant provides 4 VISTA Members to work with setting up, developing and improving 4 programs: Housing, Literacy, Veterans Affairs and Children’s Outreach.

Elva Fernandez from Eagle Pass is now the Mission: Border Hope VISTA Housing Manager.

Fernandez and Mrs. Rosa de Hoyos will assist those families who qualify for federal funds to repair, buy or build a house. Emily Fuentes from Wisconsin is the Mission: Border Hope VISTA Literacy Manager.  She is developing literacy fairs that will promote better education through literacy to our young children.

Cecilia Contreras from Eagle Pass will be the Mission: Border Hope VISTA Veterans Assistance Manager.  She is a current student of SWTJC and she is working directly with the Maverick County Veterans Officer, Mr. Ismael Castillo. Through them will be able to reach those honorable men and women who served our country and now need our support.

Stephanie Serrato, from Eagle Pass will be the Mission: Border Hope VISTA Children’s Outreach Manager.  Also a SWTJC Student, Serrato is building a volunteer network of mentors and tutors to assist children with homework.
