Mary Velasquez, City Secretary, informed The News Gram that in a special meeting of the City Council the new Budget for the upcoming fiscal year was approved for $17.6 million which will cover all costs and resources which will be used by the various departments for the upcoming years. The Council will have the decision to consider increasing taxes by 1.75 cents. According to Velasquez, that actual taxes are at $0.46557 and the increment will be to $0.01754 which is an increase of 1.75 cents. The Council will determine if the increment will be approved even though the City requires more resources at this time to complete certain projects. The Council will meet on Tuesday where a replacement will be named to replace exiting City Manager Daniel Valenzuela who will work through October 7th.
