On Thursday, the Juvenile Board met in order to, among other things, discuss the current investigation which has the Director of Juvenile Probation in the Tri-County Area Bruce Ballou suspended with pay as the investigation is conducted by Ruth Ceniseros who according to sources is from Dimmit County.

In the absence of The Honorable Cynthia Muñiz, who is out on medical leave, the meeting was conducted by The Honorable Amado Abascal, 293rd District Judge. Present were The Honorable David R. Saucedo, Maverick County Judge, The Honorable Joe Luna, Zavala County Judge and The Honorable Francisco Ponce, Dimmit County Judge who questioned Ballou's temporary replacement Carlos Segura about the proposed budget for the next fiscal year. According to Judge Abascal, he has not yet met with the investigator in charge, therefore no action was taken in the matter until it is complete. In reference to the budget, Judge Luna inquired if Ballou had had the opportunity to look at the budget which was being presented here today to which he replied that he had not. "We were told that we might see a 5% decrease in the amount of funding," said Ballou who was present, but was sitting in the courtroom apart from where the proceedings were taking place. Judge Saucedo questioned Segura when he saw that cuts were made in reference to the Targeted Grant Contract Requirements for 2016-2017 to which Segura replied that there would be $29,600.00 less constituting that each county would lose a portion of those funds reciprocally.
