Not only will they be raising taxes which have gone down incrementally from $.58 in 2012, to $.56 in 2013 and $.55 in 2014, they will go up as high as $64 as they approved a .639049 tax rate per every $100 of value as the proposed rollback tax rate for 2015.
The county taxes for this year on a home valued at $100,000.00 were $548.10. If and when this rate is approved, the same home's taxes for the county will be $639.04 a difference of almost $100.00.
According to the State Comptroller's Office, the definition of rollback rate is the sum of maintenance & operations rate and the debt service rate. The actual rate will be adopted anywhere from three days to fourteen days after the second public hearing.
According to the County Judge's Office, no official dates have been set for those hearings.
This news comes after the hospital district and city have proposed rate hikes as well which is bad news for the tax payers of Maverick County as values have also risen according to the Maverick County Appraisal District.
