On Aug. 3, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Border Patrol agent from the Eagle Pass Station fell into a pit while tracking foot sign and suffered injury to his chest. Agents located the agent, after receiving a distress call, and immediately recognized that he was having difficulty breathing. The agent was transported to Fort Duncan Medical Center for initial treatment, however, out of an abundance of caution he was flown via Air Life to a San Antonio hospital for further examination. “The U.S/Mexico border’s isolated terrain can be unforgiving,” said Del Rio Sector Chief Rodolfo Karisch. “Our agents face many inherent dangers day in and day out.”
