The Eagle Pass ISD, after numerous attempts to get a response in reference to the overpaying of several employees since as far back as 2009, has not released any information stemming from this request.

According to sources, an investigation into allegations that as many as five employees have been overpaid did reveal these inconsistencies.

The questions are how will the district repay itself for this error, did the employees themselves not know that they were being overpaid from one year to the next, where was the mistake made, what type of reprimand if any will this department receive for errors that have cost the school district thousands of dollars, but more importantly, errors that have cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars.  Especially since the school district is the entity that charges the highest property taxes in Eagle Pass and Maverick County.

There has been a debate as to how the investigation is going in reference to whether there were more of these overpaid employees.  Some board members would like to go as far as one year while another wants the investigation to go back at least to 2009.

Whatever the case may be, those who were receiving these inflated checks should have reported it and fundamentally is unethical and could be seen as fraud.
