This incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM on Thursday. Sheriff Schmerber acknowledged that this has become a problem as of late, the blatant taking of vehicles from different homes in that area, they are taken for joy rides and abandoned in open lot or canals. As of May, unauthoized use of a motor vehicle was at 8% of all infractions logged on the maverick County sheriff Department's 2015 Chart Through May, but it has to have increased over June and July.
