"We went under the railroad bridge and Bridge II which is the area which will be filled for the expansion. They're going to allow for more cueing space for trailers as we will be constructing two more commercial lanes now and two more in the future.
"In this way all commercial vehicles will be able to move off the bridge allowing for the freer flow of traffic which will speed up lines on heavier days. There is a possibility of expansion in the future of another two lanes. They have the x-ray machine in that area as well. This is also going to allow for a more direct route there as opposed to all the curvature. It will have space for wide loads so that it will be easier to move through that section."
This is a sign of the vast economic progress our community is living at this present time as it has been heard that a large maquiladora is moving to Piedras Negras which will bring approximately 1,500 jobs with it. This move can only be attributed to the fact that as we speak, our fair city is the #1 hub in the Union Pacific railroad system on the US-Mexico border. This, coupled with the doubling in size of the largest and most modern brewery in the world just a stone's throw away from our sister city, will only invite more commercial traffic to cross through Eagle Pass.
"Our mayor and council have been very, very busy with this economic development and expanding services to our public. They've been working really hard to get this done," concluded the City's top administrator, "Public safety is their main priority, however the economic development of our community is also one of the top items on this list.
"So we're working very aggressively to get more grants to improve the quality of life in Eagle Pass to improve infrastructure and to attract more businesses."
