La ciudad alegaba que  faltaban servicios y que era mucho el costo que iban a hacer y muy poca la ganancia de impuestos que se generarian.

Nos dice tambien que hace 18 años  cuando él entró como comisionado, la ciudad alegaba  que estas dos subdivisiones no tenian los requisitos, que él empezó poco a poco a pavimentar calles, ponerles cordon a las banquetas, que tuvieran luz, servicio de agua y drenaje . Ahora ya todos los requisitos  estan bajo regla y listos para anexar.

 El condado de Maverick es diferentes a todos los condados de la frontera, solo en este condado hay mas habitantes que en la ciudad .

Los condados por la regular tienen menores ingresos que la ciudad y cuando un condado es tan grande como el de nosotros los poco ingresos se tiene que estirar para  los servicios y  al anexar estas dos areas seria un alivio economico para el condado.

 Será la ciudad  quien tome  esa decision y lo mas probable es que en los proximos meses Seco Mines y Siesta Acres sean parte de la ciudad.

City in Plans to Annex Siesta Acres Seco Area

County Judge David Saucedo informed The News Gram  that he is hopeful that the city will take action in annexing Seco Mines and Siesta Acres as part of our city. These two areas already have all the infrastucure that is needed to make the transition.

The city argued that services were missing and that the investment needed would be too much with very little gain in taxes that the annexation would generate.

According to Saucedo, 18 years ago when he entered into the position of county commissioner, the city argued that these subdivisions were not ready to become part of the city due to the lacking infrastructure, he slowly began to pave streets, create appropriate sidewalks, installed lighting, water and sewer service. Now all the conditions are met to in these areas to be annexed.

Maverick County is unique to other border counties, here we have a larger population than within our city which is usually not the norm. 

Counties normally have a much more reduced flow of income than the city and in a county as large as ours, that income has to be stretched to cover all the services that are needed, to attach these two areas would be an economic relief for the county. 

The city will be making that decision and will probably be doing so in the next several months.
