"This event is sponsored by the City of Eagle Pass and the Main Street Program in conjunction with Mrs. Rosa Elena Clark who for many years has held these pageants in order to assure that our young ladies and young men in this case can compete for these titles," said Mayor Ramsey English-Cantú, "These events are held in order to show their pride as Americans and show their ultimate patriotism."
Monica Rios the daughter of Lourdes Rios was crowned Miss 4th of July while Stephanie Salais was the 2nd runner-up and Seyla Balderas was 1st runner-up.
Izabella Roig, the daughter of Brenda & Gerardo Roig was named Miss Liberty. Lorena Rodriguez was 1st runner-up.
Marichel Hernandez was crowned Little Miss 4th of July. Marichel is the daughter of Jovana & Rene Hernandez.
Akira Cortes was Crowned Little Miss Liberty and Jaslene Rodriguez was 1st runner-up. Akira is the daughter of Brenda L. Cortes.
Emmit Ibarra was named Little Mr. G.I. Joe and Saul Hernandez was 1st runner-up. Emmit is the son of Nessa Ibarra and Pedro Gonzalez.
The panel of distinguished judges who had the unenviable task of selecting the winners were Olga Ramos, Lona Cagle, Kimberly Cantú, Cecilia Mascorro, Claudia Wright, Becky Rosas and Sonia Carizales.
"As you can see here today, the parents do an outstanding job in assuring that their children have that love for their country because that's what this pageant is ultimately all about, to show the great love for their country."
Over 20 participants competed for the right to represent their community at Saturday's Stars and Stripes Jam.
