It was fifty years ago that the NRPA came to be. "On August 14th of that year the NRPA was formed with five related organizations that joined together and in 2015 we are celebrating 50 years of NRPA," stated Sanchez, "The association that is dedicated to parks, recreation and conservation efforts that enhance the quality of life for all people." "We just want to make sure that everyone in the community stays active," stated Juan Cuellar, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, "We have three independent leagues which we helped start going right now, so on any given evening you can come by and see soccer, football and basketball being played, and right now with the District 35 Little League tournament going on, it's awesome to see so many kids and adults staying active."

Multi-Purpose Center Jorge Sanchez, Director of the Eagle Pass Parks and Recreation Department, welcomed all dignitaries and the children of the PARD summer program for attending the festivities which mark the 50th anniversary of the National Recreation and Park Association, the governing body of the federal government which oversees departments such as ours.
