Del Rio, Texas –

On June 30, the Comstock Station Border Patrol Lake Task Force rescued five adults and two children, from a sinking boat on Lake Amistad.

At approximately 6 p.m., agents assigned to the Lake Task Force patrolling Lake Amistdad near Del Rio  responded to a boater in distress report.  The Lake Task Force and National Park Service law enforcement personnel arrived to their location and observed a submerged boat barely staying afloat with two adults and one infant on the boat. The other four victims were staying afloat in the water near the sinking boat. Agents secured the boat and were able to rescue the three on the boat and the NPS officers recued the remaining four from the water.  All the individuals were transported to a nearby marina.  None requested any medical attention.

“All of our agents on the Lake Task Force are highly trained and able to deploy and adapt in a wide variety of emerging situations to assist people in distress, like they did today.” said Rodolfo Karisch, Chief Patrol Agent, Del Rio Sector. “The agents at the scene were able to respond quickly and give the distressed boaters the help they needed.”

Del Rio Border Patrol Sector is an integral part of the South Texas Corridor, which leverages federal, state and local resources to combat transnational criminal organizations.
