Sheriff Tom Schmerber ha publicado las cifras de delitos abordados durante el mes de mayo y una vez más, la cifra más alarmante es la alta tasa de ataques de violencia familiar que ha pasado de un sorprendente 37 en abril a un peor aún 44 llamadas relacionadas con violencia doméstica.
Hubo 33 arrestos relacionados con las drogas con 15 ser de la variedad de sustancias controladas y 18 siendo la posesión de marihuana.
20 llamadas fueron objeto de asaltos agravados, 17 robo de unas viviendas con otros seis incidentes de allanamiento penal, 51 asuntos civiles, 22 conducta criminal y 40 arrestos por individuos que fueron querían ya sea aquí o en otros condados.
"Hemos tenido 10 casos de niños fugados y estamos trabajando muy de cerca con las autoridades mexicanas para darle un cierre a estos casos", afirmó el comisario, "De los catorce casos de fugitivos, donde se colocó una Alerta Amber, los catorce se cerraron con éxito, donde se encontraron los adolescentes, ya sea aquí o en nuestra vecina ciudad de Piedras Negras ".
Un total de 16 fugitivos localizados se conectó por el Departamento del Sheriff para el mes de mayo.

Sheriff Tom Schmerber has released the figures for offenses addressed during the month of May and once again the most alarming figure is the high rate of family violence assaults which has risen from a startling 37 in April to an even worse 44 domestic violence related calls in May.
There were 33 drug related arrests with 15 being of the controlled substance variety and 18 being possession of marijuana.
20 calls came in for aggravated assaults, 17 burglary of a habitations with six other incidents of criminal trespassing, 51 civil matters, 22 criminal mischief and 40 arrests for individuals who were wanted either here or in other counties.
"We had 10 incidents of runaway children and we are working very closely with Mexican authorities to bring closure to these cases," stated the sheriff, "Of the fourteen cases of runaways where an Amber Alert was placed, all fourteen were closed successfully, where the teens were found either here or in our neighboring city of Piedras Negras."
A total of 16 located runaways were logged in by the Sheriff's Department for the month of May.
