While the student was unresponsive and inactive, school personnel called the Glass Elementary nurse, called 911 and contacted the student’s mother. Within a few minutes an ambulance showed up with several EMTs. The student was immediately taken by ambulance after the incident and although he is doing better, precautions are being taken and the student is being transferred to a San Antonio facility.
Currently, the Counselor's Crisis Team is at the campus to assist and counsel students that witnessed the incident.
“We want to express our sincere thanks and heartfelt gratitude to the Glass Elementary School Nurse and administration for their quick thinking and swift action,” EPISD Superintendent of School Mr. Gilberto Gonzalez said. “Without a doubt, they saved a child’s life and are considered heroes to us.”
