What could have been a routine traffic stop resulted in a full blown chase by law enforcement officials on the south end of Maverick County.
Deputies patrolling the Eagle Heights area of Maverick County were led on a brief pursuit Wednesday evening after a pickup truck failed to yield for a traffic stop. At approximately 7:58 PM, units witnessed a 1991 Chevy Silverado disregard a stop sign at the corner of Eidson Road and La Herradura Road.
Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle on the traffic violation but were unsuccessful as the truck turned onto Balcones Blvd. and accelerated, continuing for several blocks before the driver exited the vehicle near an apartment complex on Macarena.
Deputies were able to detain the male subject, where it was later revealed that he had active warrants out for his arrest. While performing an inventory of the vehicles, deputies discovered a white powdery substance inside the vehicle, which was later revealed to be cocaine. The vehicle was then impounded.
