Maverick County Commissioner’s Court unanimously approved a request for qualifications and a subsequent feasibility study for a commercial new port of entry on the northern end of the county to alleviate the flow of traffic at both international bridges which grows longer and longer everyday.

Sydney Melkie, Structural Engineers out of San Antonio and Structural Engineering Associates were both accepted to be reviewed for the opportunity of looking into the feasibility of such a project.

Another important step to deal with the environmental problems that face our brothers and sisters in Val Verde County was the issue of a proclamation supporting a Groundwater Conservation District in Val Verde, an initiative spearheaded by Texas State Representative Alfonso Nevarez.

“Water is vital to the well-being of the people of Val verde and their water comes from one source, the San Felipe Springs in Del Rio,” stated County Judge David R. Saucedo, Maverick County Judge, “as well as various other springs and rivers in Val Verde.”
