In attendance at the ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of the $12.3 million, FM 1021 Railroad Overpass construction project were Mr. and Mrs. Gustavo and Maria Guadalupe Landin (former FM 1021 vicinity land owners), Pct. 2 Maverick Co. Commissioner Rudy Heredia, Dist. 80 State Representative Tracy O. King, Maverick Co. Judge David R. Saucedo, Eagle Pass Mayor Ramsey English Cantu, Eagle Pass Councilman William D. Davis, TxDOT Laredo District Administrator Melisa Montemayor, Eagle Pass Deputy City Manager Gloria Barrientos and TxDOT Del Rio Engineer Antonio Perea, P.E. The project will be constructed by Anderson Columbia, Inc. at a cost of $12.3 million. It will eliminate the at-grade crossing on FM 1021 at Monroe Street and extend over the Union-Pacific Railroad lines from South Monroe Street to Austin Street. Construction will be conducted in three phases having impacts to the traffic flow of the area. Estimated time of completion is 13-14 months approximately.
