Texas Rural Communities, an organization that impacts our farmers, ranchers and non-profit organizations who impart the ever-important knowledge of agriculture in our great state assisted two of our own last year with $10,000 in funding.

Both the Maverick County 4H Club and the Quemado Public Library benefitted from the benevolence of the TRC which is headed by Sandra Tenorio, who along with Maverick County board member Enrique Montalvo are looking out to assist our people with some of these highly competitive funds each year.

"We were very fortunate to have these two entities apply for these funds," stated Montalvo who commended them on their ability to articulate their needs and the benefits of such funding for their specific programs, "The competition is fast and furious and only a limited number o applications are approved.  I'm happy to see some of these funds coming into eagle Pass and Maverick County."

"We put the money to use by purchasing sewing machines, cameras and computers, a trimming stall for our steers as well as equipment for our archery team," said Olga Ramos of the Maverick County 4H Club.

"The funds had a great impact on our library," added Carmen Vasquez of the Quemado Public Library, "All of our computers now have the same operating system, so it made a big difference for our patrons and our staff.  We used to have both Linux and Windows XP and now we have Windows 7 and new 64 bit computers."
