Hurd heard their views and gave them feedback on his part of how these and other important issues dealing with health centers in Washington DC.
"What's happened is when you look at the federal budget, the biggest drivers are Medicare and Social Security. The question is how do you keep the program for people who are currently seniors now and make the program solvent and for u to make sure to actually strengthen Meicare for the future," said the congressman to a very captive and knowledgeable audience.
He said that there are a number of ideas on how to get this accomplished, "I have no expectations that when I reach the age that Medicare will be available to me and that's our concern. In order to get this done the congress is going to have to pass a law, the senate is going to have to pass a law and the president is going to have to sign."
Hurd promised to return in the very near future with an expert on medicare to continue this discussion.
