Officers reported to the 1000 block of Kiriaka Drive where Rolando Arce informed officers of the fact that he had noticed strange noises coming into his home from the outside. When he got up to check, his 2007 silver colored Jeep Wrangler was gone. The vehicle was taken by an unknown subject from in front of his residence during the night hours.
The complainant placed the value of the Jeep at twelve thousand dollars and further told the investigating officer he was still in possession of the keys of the vehicle. The case is still under investigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department Auto Theft Division.
Police Chief Albert Guajardo informed The News Gram that thieves are walking around in neighborhoods to see if vehicles are unlocked in order to steal items found in the interiors of these vehicles.
Either they know how to start these vehicles which have been stolen or the owners have made the mistake of leaving the keys either in the ignition or somewhere under the seat or in the ash tray which can be easily accessed by these individuals prompting them to take the car or truck.
Another item of note is that at least half of these vehicles are pickups. Another word of warning goes out to citizens to report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.
