When Ryan Ricks, Owner of Ashley Eagle Pass had the opportunity of embarking on this very worthwhile endeavor, he put it upon himself to donate $5 from any mattress sold no matter the size or brand in order to insure that at least seventy families get a new bed, comforter sheets and pillow for their child this year.
"This is something we do every quarter and we just had our latest delivery," stated Ricks, "This program is to highlight the importance of sleep in a child's development."
Sleep is no less important than food, drink, or safety in the lives of children, according to Dr. Michael J. Breus, PhD an expert on sleep and sleep deprivation.
"Sleep is the power source that keeps your mind alert and calm. Every night and at every nap, sleep recharges the brain's battery," says Breus, "Sleeping well increases brainpower just as weight lifting builds stronger muscles, because sleeping well increases your attention span and allows you to be physically relaxed and mentally alert at the same time."
We're sure that the recipients of these beds will truly appreciate the generosity of Ashley Furniture, but in the end, the results in the classroom will truly be their biggest benefit of this endeavor.
There are two ways to apply: one is to come by the Ashley Furniture Home Store on Veterans Blvd. and the other would be to recommend a family in need.
"This is our little contribution to the youth of our community," concluded Ricks, "In order to give a good night's sleep to a child in need."
