When officers of the EPPD were advised that a vehicle occupied by two individuals was not heeding to authorities attempting to stop them, officers provided assistance and a 2012 Dodge Ram was pulled over at the corner of El Indio Highway and Veterans Loop and the scene was something out of a Hollywood movie as officers brandished their weapons ordering the occupants out of the vehicle.

According to a press release by the EPPD, patrol units attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a the pickup bearing Texas license plates FCZ-4959 within the 3500 block of El Indio Highway for displaying an expired motor vehicle inspection sticker.

The driver of the vehicle ignored the patrol units and failed to stop continuing west on El Indio Highway.

EPPD patrol units assist- ed and the vehicle was stopped at the intersection of El Indio Highway and South Veterans Boulevard.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 25 year-old Eric Vicente Castillo and the passenger was identified as 23 year-old Christian A. Gonzalez.

Located within the vehi- cle in the area of the back seat, officers located 90.3 pounds of marijuana in four separate bundles wrapped in brown tape.

Castillo and Gonzalez were arrested for possession of marijuana over 50 pounds but under 2,000 pounds.

Both were processed and subsequently transferred to the Tom Bowles Detention Center.

This case is under inves- tigation by the Eagle Pass Police Department and The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investment Division.
