WASHINGTON (AP) —

President Barack Obama says the White House's disagreements with congressional Republicans should not stand in the way of agreement on issues including trade and cybersecurity.

Obama is meeting at the White House with House and Senate leaders. It's the first time the president and lawmakers have gotten together since the new, Republican-led Congress was seated last week.

The president says he is particularly focused on finding ways to keep progress on the economy going. He says the U.S. is "in a position to make sure that 2015 is an even stronger year."

Despite Obama's calls for bipartisanship, the White House and Republicans are at odds on several major issues, including construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and immigration.
