The Eagle Pass Public Works Department informed The News Gram that this week they are initiating procedures in order to install what are termed "Street Prints" which will give our streets a new look when motorists drive through the area. The prints give the aspect of bricks being lain on the intersections of the streets in the area and give the street a touch of color and an aspect of detail never before seen here. These prints will only be installed in the pedestrian crossing areas of the Downtown area on the intersections of Main and Jefferson, Washington, Adams, Monroe and Ceylon Streets. Public Works also announced that due to this construction, some of these crossings may be closed during this time, so citizens are asked to have patience. They are hoping that this 'facelift' to our city streets, if you will, will be completed by the time Christmas shopping begins this year. Joe Cruz, Main Street Director, stated that this project is indeed an important one due to the fact that it will make Downtown Eagle Pass that much more attractive to patrons and potential investors as the Main Street Project is working to get more pedestrian traffic to the vital commercial area as well as looking into the possibility of attracting important chains of clothing to make a commitment to Eagle Pass.  All it would take would be one to show an interest and others will be sure to follow as some of these chains may not count on the massive amount of pedestrian traffic that comes across the International Bridge on any given day, especially Mondays and Fridays and a Hollister, American Eagle or even an Abercrombie & Fitch would do well in getting teenagers and their parents in particular to make regular visits Downtown. His project has been busy working on beautifying the area by having merchants apply for facade upgrades and this has received many positive results in what will surely make the area look more inviting and pleasant to the eye. Any other merchants in the Downtown area who are interested in doing the same can contact him dire
