The Chamber of Commerce's final Community Breakfast of the year was held on Wednesday to an uncharacteristically packed house as the conference room was filled to capacity with local business leaders, newly elected school board members, the entire board of the Maverick County Hospital District, our mayor and former sheriff, members of the Eagle Pass Water Works System and former director Robert Gonzalez, Mario Diaz, Joe Cruz and other city administrators and the board of directors of the chamber itself among many others.
The topic at hand, the upcoming Maverick County Junior Livestock Show which Sandra Rodriguez eloquently commented on as it is just around the corner. She and three of her assistants explained ways how individuals or businesses can begin to contribute to the annual event as well as to inform the gathering that the feature entertainer this year will be none other than country music star Rick Treviño.
The Eagle Pass High School Jazz Band played Christmas favorites and enlightened the crowd with well elaborated arrangements and subtle nuances which added a much welcomed breath of fresh air to the festivities.
