The Middle Rio Grande Youth Football and Cheer Conference of Eagle Pass was represented in the Regional Tournament held in Round Rock, Texas on November 22 and 23 by the 12u Eagle Pass Eagles All-Stars. The performance of this team allowed them to continue onto the National Tournament held in Kissimmee, Florida the week of December 6th through the 12th. The tournament was an extravagant event with a total of 143 teams in different divi- sions playing on 9 different football fields. The performance of the Eagle All Star team propelled them into the third place championship game against the South Central Florida Poinciana All Star team. Under the guidance of Head Coach Eduardo “Lalo” Sepulveda and his assistant coaches the Eagles won 31-0 and are now the #3 ranked team in the Nation in the American Youth Football League.
The players on this All Start Team are comprised of the local MRGYFCC teams to include The Cowboys, The Broncos and The Panthers. These players are the future of both Eagle Pass football programs and the vast majority of them will be attend- ing one of the two local junior high schools next year.
On behalf of the MRGYFCC Board of Directors, coaches, parents and those who assisted this team in allowing them to attend this event, we would like to extend a big congratulations to this exceptional group of athletes.
