Teleton Navideño Reaches New Heights

This year’s Teleton Navideño which was dedicated to Rodolfo “Fito” Barrera reached new heights garnering over $75,000.00 and surpassing last year’s grand total of $73,160.00.

The event which is broadcast live from the CSN-TV studios in historic beautiful downtown Eagle Pass brought together local leaders, event organizers, volunteers, musical groups, dance troupes and even a folkloric dance group from Allende, Coahuila for the benefit of the needy families of Eagle Pass.

The labor of love which is the annual Teleton Navideño also had the presence religious leaders and the entire public in general contributed their time and efforts to insure that those less fortunate than they would also enjoy the beauty of the Christmas Season, the holiest of holidays.

Volunteers worked tirelessly the entire day and on through the night manning the phone lines and filling out the official receipts which when tallied at the end of the event surpassed any and all expectations of the Teleton Navideño Committee headed by The Honorable Ramsey English-Cantú, former Sheriff Tom Herrera and his wife Malena, Mr. Barrera’s lovely wife Carolina, Lupita and Armando Gutierrez among others who put on this day long marathon of local entertainment.  Isamari Villarreal, Maverick County Tax Assessor Collector was on hand as was CPA Jesus Casas to assist in the financial aspect of the event.

 

When it was all said and done, the committee was pleased to announce that they had surpassed last year’s total of 73,160.00 by $2,000.00 with a grand total of $75,182.61as they sang Feliz Navidad and thanked the community for their generous support promising to be back next year.
