A man wanted for murder in Harris County made a run for the border on Saturday as Harris County officials contacted Eagle Pass PD to assist them in the search for the individual.
According to Sergeant Orlando Escareño, Jose Guadalupe Guerrero, 45, may have escaped from Houston as early as Saturday as the pickup truck he was driving was located in the parking lot of a local department store.
Harris County, using a tracking device affixed to the vehicle of the defendant, ran a satellite check on Guerrero's vehicle which came back with the location.
When EPPD officers arrived, they located the vehicle which had been parked at Wal-Mart and proceeded to search the store for the fugitive.
When no contact was made, surveillance video showed that Guerrero had in fact dropped off the truck on Saturday leaving the lot on foot.
Law enforcement officials believe he may have crossed into Mexico some time Saturday.
Guerrero was scheduled to appear in Houston court room on Monday to face the charges before him of allegedly murdering Maria Escamilla, 51 in January of 2010.
