"We were extremely happy to have the participation of both high schools," stated Judge Martinez who said he was excited and pleased with those students who attended their Municipal Court Seminar which featured City attorney and Prosecutor Heriberto Morales, Offcier Jose De La Garza and attendance officer Guillermo Ruiz, "It's a program that has been in existence since 2007, but this is the first time we implement it locally and it is very important that these kids take the message back to their peers and the success of this program hinges on the participation of the community and the youth of our community as to when and if we continue to do so."
The students were treated to presentations on the role of the municipal court system in city government, the role of the prosecutor in the municipal court system, crime prevention and the new ticket writers, the consequences of teenage drinking and driving and distracted drivers (texting) and failure to attend school, procedures and consequences.
