A potentially dangerous situation Tuesday morning at Maverick Nursing Home prompted an emergency evacuation of the facility as a result of a short circuit in the air conditioning system. The evacuation was conducted as a precautionary measure and emergency services were summoned including police department and fire department personnel. According to reports by Police Chief, Juan Antonio Castaneda, the evacuation was conducted in order to avoid any possible life threatening situations as a result of the short in the AC system. Residents of the nursing home facility which is located on Bob Rodgers were evacuated from the building and there were no reports of injuries to anyone of the residents. The emergency took place at approximately 2:47 a.m. on Tuesday morning and officers were on scene under the direction of Sergeant Orlando Escareno to render assistance in the evacuation procedures. Our local fire department found the short and were able to quickly neutralize the situation and the resident were eventually able to return to their rooms. Chief Castaneda explained that the police department along with the assistance of the fire department was able to respond effectively to this emergency call.
