The CC Winn Mavericks used another complete game to win their second straight District 29-AAAAA football game over the Laredo Martin Tigrers 34-21.
Mav QB Juan Elizondo scored on an amazing run where he broke tackles and defied gravity to remain upright and find his way into the end zone for the second Mav score.
The first score for the Mavs may have been a little payback for games past when the third man in the three-prong Silver & Black Running Attack, Chris Aranda threw, yes, threw for a forty plus yard touchdown to a streaking Julio Ruiz who carried the ball along with his matte black helmet with a #2 sticker on the back in honor of consummate Maverick Danny Medellin to tie the game at 7. Coach David Charles' Tigers showed they were not impressed by driving 75 yards to go up with a Juan Valvidia 55 yard touchdown run.  An amazing display of breakaway speed!

The game was on and after Elizondo tied the game at 14, Aranda walked into the end zone from 20 yards out.
The big time player of the game despite all the offensive prowess of the Mav triumvirate of Elizondo, Aranda and Neon Deion Alonso, was Dante Valdez, CC Winn's clutch kicker who not only made all of his PAT's, but he kicked a 40 yard field goal to put key points on the board.
But Valdez was not done.  He nailed an Eagle Pass high school record 47 yard field goal with seconds ticking off the first half clock.
Deion Alonso took the second half kickoff all the way to the Martin 17 and a block in the back penalty brought it back to the 27, but Aranda put is up 27-14.
The Tigers answered with a scoring drive, then principal Jesus Diaz-Wever said, "We need at least a field goal here," when Deion Alonso broke off a sweet run and looked like his idol Barry Sanders juking Tiger defenders before turning on the jets and putting this game away.
Mavericks 34, Tigers 21. With Cigarroa losing to Nixon earlier that evening, it sets up a feasible playoff scenario for the Mavs if they can knock off Nixon next week at homecoming as they hold the tiebreak against the Toros.
