When we caught up with Pat Saucedo, General Manager of Mall de las Aguilas, he had an expression of satisfaction in the fact that a project such as the opening of a major player in the retail market making the bold move of coming to a mall that has been here since 1982, but that lies smack dab on the US-Mexico border.Saucedo, his Marketing Manager Paco Flores and Joe Gervase, Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise Asset Management, the company that owns the mall along with Michael Martino were basking in the glory of this key tenant and newest retail store in our community.

But according to these gentlemen, an addition such as this does not happen overnight and a great deal of planning, too much Girvassi says, to mention in the scope of a single conversation, but judging from the hundreds of shoppers who must have stood in line from very early in the morning, it was a process well worth undergoing.

"We're very pleased to have Marshalls here.  They're an incredible tenant, a great business and I think they'll be a great addition to the community and I hope shoppers really enjoy what they have to offer," stated Girvassi, "There are so many moving parts, but we work through various issues and items with Marshalls.  They were great to work with and here's the end result.  You have a nice store and I look forward to them being very successful here."

When asked about the properties that Enterprise represents, Mr. Martino had the following to add, "We have two malls and they're both in Texas the other being Sunset Mall in San Angelo. We're excited about this store and local stores like La Boutique which is an incredible space in our mall that people need to visit."

Enterprise has opened a number of malls in Texas including Mall del Norte in Laredo and others in Louisiana and across the southern United States all of which they have sold, but they have been in this business since the late seventies and they said that our mall in particular has been showing signs of improved sales and judging by the turnout today, we may soon be seeing a Hollister, American Eagle, Aeropostale or maybe even a Forever 21 as they attend yearly conferences of the ICSC (International Council of Shopping Centers) where they make first contact with companies of this nature so we can do this all over again.
