A water main broke on Monday in the City of Carrizo Springs, leaving thousands without water for more than 24 hours.

Classes for the Carrizo Springs Consolidated Independent School District were cancelled on Tuesday while crews labored day and night to restore water to the area.

Local businesses like H-E-B assisted in distributing non-drinking water to residents to use in their homes water for residents of the city of 5,000 and the nearby town of Asherton shipped water to the area as well.

Assistant City Manager Mario Chavez informed The News Gram that the city experienced low to no water pressure in certain areas of the city.

Citizens were asked to boil any drinking water or water intended for human consumption.

City of Carrizo Springs crews worked on the main and eventually re-established the free flow of water back to the residents of the city at 10:00 PM on Tuesday.
