Riggs drew first blood for the Dragons and Cruz would not stay behind with a lower center of gravity and a clearly superior burst of speed, but the Dragons had absolutely no answer for Ty Chisum as he racked up the yardage en route to two more first half scores and one more in the third. where they chose to go for two and Chisum bootlegged it into the endzone. The Dragons answered back with a Bowen Crisp TD pass to WR Jared Silva on a magnificent pitch and catch for the Dragons' final touchdown of the third quarter.
But Player of the Week Mark Venegas made good on his promise to take one into the endzone for us with an amazing 75 yard touchdown run to put the Eagles up 44-41 on his hard-fought two point conversion.
One key play in the second half was a pass play in which Chisum had no where to throw and as he rolled to his right, he was hit just as he released his attempt to throw it out of bounds and it was intercepted by FS Jonathan Garcia who was hit hard by Chisum inside the 10.
The Dragons took advantage of three killer penalties against the Eagles to mount two more scoring drives which put the game away 54-44.
The Eagles are off next week before beginning their district schedule on October 9th at home against United South.
