Lawsuit filed by 23 MCSD employees
In a stunning turn of events and after Commissioner's Court had approved a recent budget amendment to compensate dispatchers and other employees of the Maverick County Sheriff's Department, 23 employees have signed letters including them- selves as plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed by San Antonio attorney Glenn Levy in US Federal Court.
According to the General Facts and Allegations section of the suit, The plaintiffs and all other similarly situated employees did not receive over- time cumulated throughout their employment with the Maverick County Sheriff's Department.
It further states that it is the policy of the MCSD to deny earned wages and overtime pay to employees. The plaintiff's original complaint goes on to state that the defendants' deliberate failure to pay employees their wages and overtime compensation violates the Fair Labor Standards Act.
