The Eagle Pass 13 Year-old All-Stars did it again on Monday coming from behind to defeat perennial powerhouse Texas Tri-County in a game that was not for the faint of heart.

Braulio Rodriguez put the 'S' on his chest in this highly important matchup where Eagle Pass Manager Isaac Gonzalez wanted to get the most out of his pitching while preserving valuable innings for his ace Rey Rey Mendoza and perform he did as Rodriguez got out of the first inning unscathed getting speedy Scooter Adams to ground out to second, Ryan Hermes flied out to first and Jerrette Brown flied out to Mendoza in center.

Eagle Pass showed that they would not be denied as Brandon Villaseñor got on on an error, moved over to third on a passed ball and tried to score on another, but Tri-County catcher Ryan Becka threw perfectly to pitcher Mason Muras to get Villaseñor at home!

But Braulio would begin his heroics early with a hit followed by another RBI single by Christian Del Bosque plating the first run for the home team, 1-0 after one.

Adams would deliver in the third inning with a base hit to right field scoring on another hit by Hermes knotting up the score.

Eagle Pass responded in the fourth inning when Rodriguez was hit by a pitch, Del Bosque got on on an error on the second baseman scoring Rodriguez to put the Columbia-blue clad Eagle Pass squad up 2-1.

The flood gates opened up in the fifth inning when Cory Heber reached on a base on balls, Adams singled to right, Jerrette Brown got on on a fielder's choice scoring Adams, Muras aided his cause with another single and came in to score on an error putting Tri-County ahead 5-2.

Isaac Gonzalez reached on an error and came in to score on an RBI single by Roly Riza as they inched closer 5-3.

Rodriguez was hit by another Muras pitch and he came around to score on back-to-back singles by Del Bosque and Francisco Ballones making the score 5-4 with one at bat to go.

Brandon Villaseñor was called upon to close it out and he held the Tri-County bats at bay in the fifth, sixth and seventh which he did in spectacular fashion.

In the bottom of the seventh, we needed a run to keep our championship hopes alive and that's when Ivan Ramirez was hit by a pitch and Mario Galvan saved the day with a towering double to tie it and the crowd went absolutely wild

Ballones came in to close out Texas Tri-County in the eighth the it was down to this.  Villaseñor drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh when Braulio Rodriguez squared to bunt and the ball got past the catcher putting Villaseñor on third then Braulio took a Scooter Adams pitch and put it in the deepest part of right field to score Villaseñor with the winning run!

The victory set up a showdown with Nederland on Tuesday for the right to advance to the 2014 Babe Ruth World Series in Virginia.  Nederland had to defeat both Bryant, Arkansas and Tri-County in an extra-inning game on Monday 10-9 to get to this point.

Results of this game between Eagle Pass and Nederland were not available at press time.
