Tuesday marked a very different type of ribbon cutting event as it was not earmarked for the store itself rather for a service which Stripes locations will be providing in coordination with Border Federal Credit Union.

"A couple of months ago we began negotiating a contract with Stripes who came to us and we talked about the possibilities of having ATM's available to all of our union members," stated Maria Martinez, President of BFCU Eagle Pass, "It is now a reality and what's going to happen is that we're starting little by little. What will happen is anybody who is shopping at Stripes will be able to use their BFCU ATM card, a debit MasterCard or their Visa Credit Card, withdraw money at any of the ATM's and not be charged any terminal fee! There will still be the $1 fee which is charged by the credit union, but that will be all the will pay.If you think about it, they will have access to over 600 ATM's across Texas,Oklahoma and New Mexico.I want to thank my staff for being here and taking care of our members."

"There'll be many opportunities for our members to be using this as you travel, you'll be able to see a Stripes and know that an ATM is waiting.  I'd like to than our Branch Manager Diana Salinas for always being so helpful, and I always enjoy coming down to Eagle Pass", said Alida Helgerman, BFCU's Public Relations Officer in coordination with Stripes, set up this ribbon cutting.

"I'd like to thank the Chamber of Commerce, they always do a wonderful job.  This is something very exciting for the Credit Union and we're very proud to say that we're growing and we want to give our members the best access to their money," said Salinas.

Piper Scott, Public Relations Department for Stripes Convenience Stores, thanked Orlando Cortes, Manager of the Stipes located at Second Street and Veteran's Blvd., "We have all of our beautiful Laredo Taco Company Associates behind the counter, all of our cashiers and employees, they work very hard in our stores everyday."

Mike Garcia eloquently emceed this event who reminded everyone the key to a successful real estate venture, 'Location, location, location!'  These guys did well picking this Stripes location, it's always full.

The ribbon cutting was attended by approximately 50 people including members of the Chamber of Commerce, local leaders and dignitaries representing City Hall.
